March Mystery Coffee Reveal - Kaffeelix

Our very first Mystery Coffee from Austrian roaster turned out to be a great one. Mystery Coffee League participants had an opportunity to try one of the first crops of the very special coffee from the very special farm!

About the coffee

Eli Espinoza came to Chirinos as a teenager looking for work on farms, and he started out picking coffee in the village. After a while he was able to buy his own land and started working to produce his own coffee.

He is now owner of 4 hectares of coffee in the village of las Pirias in Chirinos. His parcels of land spread across the village – all between 1800 and 2000 masl –, planted mostly with Typica, Caturra and Bourbon. Only a small section has Geisha trees. Eli processes all his coffee at his house, which sits at 1800 masl.

About the processing

The coffee was floated before undergoing a skin drying process under shade for one day. Then it was then moved to a solar drying tent, where it dried under controlled conditions for 45 days.

The winner of March round is sebo_m with 18 points. Followed by Dawid with 18 points (country tie-breaker) and Oecking with 17 points.
