September Mystery Coffee Reveal - Friedhats

Time for the reveal of the very first, but definitely no the last, Mystery Coffee from Friedhats!

🇵🇪 Peru Rosas Pata

Varietal: Bourbon
Processing: Washed
Altitude: 1780 masl
Producer: Flavio Ccori Soncco
Tasting notes: red apple, apricot, lime lemonade

Puno, a region known not only for raising cattle as well as Peruvian folklore, years ago was also known nationally for its coffee production. However, the rust plague and competition from other illicit, more “profitable” crops considerably decreased its coffee production. Fortunately, little by little some families decided to recover their old plots and dedicated themselves to coffee again. In Puno coffees can be found with particular profiles, very elegant, citric and floral similar to that of a geisha, but they are not :)

Flavio Ccori Soncco and his family live in this region. Flavio, whose surname is Quechua meaning “heart of gold” is a likeable man, with few words, a friendly smile who grows delicious coffee, like the one you’ve tried with this month's Mystery Coffee League.

Ok great, so what is it and what does it taste like?

Well, these juicy Bourbon beans. Not a geisha! Filled with apricot and red apples flavour notes. A crisp tart acidity, like a lime lemonade with a silky mouthfeel and brown sugar sweetness.
